The Economic Progress and Innovation Center (EPIC) successfully organized another edition of its उधमी किस्सा (Entrepreneurial Stories) series, featuring Lalit Narayan Jha, Ward Chair of Mithila Bihari Municipality–10, Dhanusha, and founder of Laxmi Bahu-Uddeshya Matsya tatha Pashupalan Farm.
Coming from a farming family, Lalit Narayan Jha has transformed agriculture into a thriving enterprise through innovation, determination, and continuous learning. Before starting his dragon fruit farm, he visited several farms to learn modern cultivation techniques and best practices. Today, his 2-bigha farm produces around 6,000 kg of dragon fruit annually, supplying markets in Janakpur and Kathmandu. Alongside dragon fruit cultivation, he practices integrated organic farming and has created employment opportunities for local communities.
A particularly inspiring aspect of his journey is his commitment to sharing knowledge. He actively mentors aspiring farmers and entrepreneurs interested in dragon fruit cultivation, believing that entrepreneurship grows stronger when experience and learning are shared.
During the session, students of Model Multiple College watched a documentary showcasing his entrepreneurial journey, followed by an interactive discussion on the opportunities, challenges, and practical lessons of entrepreneurship and modern agriculture. The documentary is available on EPIC’s youtube to inspire a wider audience across Madhesh and beyond.
Through the उधमी किस्सा series, EPIC continues to connect students with real-life entrepreneurs, promoting entrepreneurial thinking and encouraging young people to view enterprise as a pathway to economic opportunity, innovation, and community development.
